1.To be involved in

This phrase means to take part in something, and to act in it. You can be involved in a play, an organization, an event, or something else that requires you to dedicate some time, energy, and possibly money into it.

However, simply knowing that something exists and being an advocate for it are two different things, so if you talk about awareness of something in a job interview, make sure you can elaborate as well.
